Jubilee Managing Agency has dismissed Kiln’s claim of being first to market with a new insurance product to protect mobile phone users from ID theft and unauthorised payment as “not true”.
Kiln made its claim iin October. However Jubilee has countered that in July 2011, Insurance2Go launched a digital wallet protection cover for tap and go mobile payment technology which was developed and underwritten by Jubilee's affinity and special risks team in conjunction with Citymain.
Nick Grazier, head of marketing and business development at Jubilee told Insurance Age: "Since its launch, the mobile wallet protection product has proven to be very popular with customers, especially as this is now part of every standard monthly smartphone insurance cover that Insurance2Go offers.
"Our success clearly shows this market has potential and it is great to see competition emerge with a product that reflects some of the industry standard cover set by Jubilee. Perhaps Kiln should have searched the web on a smartphone before making their bold ‘first to market"
