As part of a Government-backed scheme to reduce uninsured driving, insurers have to supply details of all the vehicles they insure to a central database, the Motor Insurance Database (MID).
The scheme also imposes obligations on the policyholder to disclose all vehicles to their insurers.
The MID was introduced at the instigation of the Government in accordance with EC directives. It is not an insurance industry initiative. Nevertheless both insurers and policyholders have a duty to comply.
It is important to be aware that, while the legal position with regard to insurance has not changed in that drivers have seven days to produce evidence of insurance at the request of police, some police forces are taking the view that if a vehicle does not appear on the database, it is uninsured, and a number of vehicles have been impounded.
It is important, therefore, that Jubilee policyholders fully understand and comply with their obligations in respect of the database. You can get more information by downloading the following:

If you are already a Jubilee policyholder you can use this Excel Spreadsheet to submit your vehicle details to us. We will then upload them to the database on your behalf.
